Mothers ARE the movement. This is a great story. I was honored to share more about my work to make the Minnesota Senate more inclusive and improve maternal health outcomes.

This week is Black Maternal Health Week — a time to raise awareness and take action on dangerous racial health gaps in childbirth. When I welcomed my son, Leo, last August, I experienced firsthand how dangerous birth can be for Black women.

Kicked off Black Maternal Health Awareness Week with Irth and Children’s MN for the announcement of their new partnership to strengthen neonatal care. Irth’s Birth Without Bias Hospital Improvement Program will turn lived experiences into actionable data to root out bias and save lives.

Little Hands, Big Hearts 💗 This morning, we joined hundreds of families at the kids march for love and community in Como. We’re so lucky to call this place home.

My thoughts on the “end” of operation metro surge: ➡️ I’ll believe it when I see it. ➡️ The damage remains. Our neighbors have disappeared. Our kids are traumatized. Our small businesses are struggling. ➡️ Minnesotans are leading the resistance. ➡️ Keep it up. Organizing works.

The energy at the SD66 DFL caucuses last night was incredible! Our neighbors are ready to organize. Big night for me and baby Leo (his first caucus!) as I kicked off my re-election campaign. We’re fighting to keep our communities safe. That means ICE OUT. ✊🏽

If my caucus is any indication, Democrats in the cities currently occupied by ICE want the whole damn thing abolished actually.

Once again, our kids are leading the way. Yesterday, Saint Paul students organized a massive, district-wide walkout, marching all the way to the State Capitol to demand that ICE get out of our city. I am so proud to stand with these brave students in their fight for justice.✊🏽❤️

Leo’s first doorknock. Talking to neighbors about why we’re voting yes for Saint Paul Public Schools. Every child and family in Saint Paul deserves access to quality public education.

Today, Leo and I attended the dedication of the Senator Kari Dziedzic Memorial Bridge. It was one of Leo’s first outings, and there was no better way to mark the moment than by celebrating Kari’s incredible leadership and legacy.

In 2023, I passed legislation that significantly restricted the use of no-knock warrants in Minnesota. According to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension’s (BCA) most recent report, their use dropped by 78% last year. This is a major victory for public safety and accountability.

Toured the future home of the Latino Economic Development Center at Plaza del Sol on St. Paul’s East Side. Proud to help secure $3.5M in state funding for this vibrant hub for Latino entrepreneurship - featuring a business incubator, event space, commercial kitchen & more!

This weekend, I attended the grand opening of @filmnorth.bsky.social’s stunning new building. I’m proud to have secured a $2M state appropriation to help make this creative hub a reality. Over 1,000 community members came out to celebrate, and the energy in the space was electric.

Big thanks to the Como District Council for hosting another fantastic Ice Cream Social last night! It was wonderful to see so many neighbors out enjoying the evening together. Events like this remind us how strong and connected our community is.

Lauderdale is a such a warm and welcoming community. I had a great time at their annual Day in the Park last night!
