In the 60s and 70s, MN was home to a strong Chicano Movement, led in part by groups like the Brown Berets. Activists fought for bilingual education, farmworker rights, and against discrimination—laying the foundation for Latino civil rights advocacy. Their work continues to inspire new generations.

After two days of hearings, we are disappointed that there was not consensus on any of the 11 proposals DFLers brought forward in our working group on gun violence prevention. Republicans' lone submission to the agenda was a discredited attack on SSRIs.

Thousands gathered today to pay their respects to Melissa and Mark Hortman, and their Golden Retriever Gilbert. They all lived their lives in service to others and will be profoundly missed.

We are incredibly touched by the amount of people who are visiting the Capitol today to pay their respects to Melissa, Mark, and their Golden Retriever Gilbert. Tomorrow at 10:30am, Melissa and Mark will be laid to rest at a private funeral.
