I've often wondered how Steven Pinker's amazingly sloppy research and baseless claims* have for so long received a free pass. I wonder whether it could have something to do with a. his connections with the rich and powerful; b. his claims often aligning with what they want to hear. *See next post.

The endlessly inventive nature of #ME never fails to amaze me. It scrambles around wondering, “what new assault on a body can I dream up for #pwME today?” It’s found my hips as a previously almost ignored area and decided to aim there. As usual it’s succeeded in the assault. 😏

Absolutely we should fear terrorism and seek to prevent it. But we should also fear those who use either real terrorism or bogus claims about terrorism to boost their own powers, restrict our freedoms and corrode our democracy. Both present major threats to public life.

Labour front benchers scratch their heads and wonder why their base has collapsed, why so many people are disillusioned, frustrated, furious. I mean, what is it about pissing on every value and principle your party once upheld that alienates the electorate? Beats me. 🤔

1) 🇦🇺 Australian researchers claim they have found a "robust biomarker" for ME/CFS, namely a dysfunction of an ion channel in Natural Killer cells. Unfortunately, there are also a couple of limitations to the study.

I think the temptation for someone suffering from an unrecognised, maligned illness is to deny any human vulnerability. Any mention of feeling low or scared must be avoided or they’ll just confirm a psychiatric diagnosis. This is terribly difficult. #ME #LC patients are human too!

This is also what Yvette Cooper, when she was UK Home Secretary, said about #PalestineAction. If you knew the secret stuff I know, you'd agree with me that they're terrorists. It's the cheapest and basest way for a politician to malign someone, and a clear sign of a flailing, undemocratic state.
