Not surprised at all. We have known for a long time that fairly modest increases in physical activity have significant health benefits. Also if you make it easier to do the right thing more people will do it.

We scrapped all the youth clubs, made everything expensive, took away things like skate parks, built massive housing estates with no green space, and wonder why kids get up to no good online. It's a complete mystery that definitely isn't a problem of our own making.

This is great to see. The Cumbrian River Restoration Partnership is an umbrella for more than 100 separate projects, which include the reintroduction of meanders, removing weirs and planting trees across the catchments of the Rivers Eden, Derwent and Kent. Wiggles, weirs and willows for the win.

In Australia, when a tree is illegally cut down, the local government area or council will put up a giant billboard as an eyesore in its place that says “A tree has been vandalized”.
