We had our first HCC in-person meet up of the year, last week, and we recognised everyone’s tireless work for change. Now the big question: how to get these cycle infrastructure plans – currently “sitting in a drawer in the town hall” – out onto people’s desks, and built on our streets?

I wore a cycling necklace from a friend (and felt like a cheat - I’d got the bus this time! Shhh) But here at HCC we all want the same thing - a safe network to cycle through and in the borough. We want to be able to pedal around safely - for ourselves, friends and families -/3

In other positive news on change, the zipwire in our local park, Tambo Rec, has finally been fixed. It’s my kids’ favourite thing to do - but lots of children and teens piling on it at once for months finally broke the spring and it was out of action. … 4/7

A few good things have happened this week over here (despite the near-constant rain!) I was in Camden yesterday for a course, and passed the beautiful traffic barrier on Camden High St yesterday. Oooh. No traffic! Should have been done years ago, but thank goodness it’s finally happened! - 1/7

What is it with the British and this nonsense about bus stops, over and over. Crossing bike lane: dangerous. Cross road: not dangerous. It makes no sense at all. The rest of us have managed bus stops and bike lanes for ages.

Folks, the new plans for Bayswater Road have zebra crossings across the cycle lane to reach the bus stop. A snazzy design for bus stop bypasses. Here’s us demonstrating how they work a few months ago on Camden’s York Way ⬇️⬇️
