Quite a lot of people lost someone, maybe an elderly relative, during the heatwave. My Aunt Barbara, very ill with advanced dementia, died yesterday aged 91. She was unmarried, no kids and I had been taking care of her affairs for the past few years. That’s the least interesting thing about her. 1

Transfers getting hijacked isn’t anything new or unusual. Keane shook hands with Kenny Dalglish to sign for Blackburn back in 93, then went and had a game of snooker with SAF. Eze dumped on Spurs. Money talks, always has. What’s changed is the SM circus that now accompanies every transfer.

I imagine losing transfer targets to rivals happened all the time pre-internet. Unfortunately seeing it happen in real time is driving some of our fan base mad. It's going to happen now and again. Doesn't necessarily signal the end of the World !

As above, so below. Here in NZ, Act's war chest has swelled this year similar to Reform in the UK, raising more donations than National and Labour combined. I wonder if that's where the similarities end?

in 1995, we signed Les Ferdinand from QPR for ÂŁ6m and he more than repaid that outlay. Sir Les scored a whopping 50 goals in only 84 games across two seasons: 29 in 95/96, then 21 in 96/97 as he formed a prolific partnership with Alan Shearer.

One way that Orbán sought to entrench power was adopting a new Hungarian constitution in 2011 that classified many policy areas as 'cardinal laws' that require a two-thirds majority vote to change. With almost 100% of votes counted, the Hungarian opposition has just achieved what seemed impossible.
