Just started Girl On Girl by Sophie Gilbert, because I’ve been seeing a lot of anti-sex work, purity culture disguised as feminism takes from media critics on TikTok who were praising the book. I wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt, but the introduction blames porn for the fall of feminism.

At some point a number of anti-porn feminists just decided it was easier to be conservatives. They already sound like them, they're natural allies and it makes more money in the end. Plus legacy media is more accommodating to them this way so they can spew their bullshit unchallenged.

Frankly, what a privilege for representation to be your main political lens.

It's irresponsible to discredit the nuanced body of criticism and academic research being produced by sex radical feminists. It's also a gross misrepresentation to paint sex radicals as aggressive and reactionary toward the most "tepid critiques" of porn/heterosexuality.

It would help immensely if the critiques of porn, did not confuse "sex" with "porn." The push to be "sexy" and sexism are not rooted in one form of media. But linking both evangelicals and anti-SW feminists is the idea that sexist evil can be traced to one tantalizing source.
