Totally appalling way to treat anyone but in this case this woman had not broken any immigration rule at all. And the British consulate were completely and inexcusably useless. Awful and I think deserves some response from the Foreign Office.

Pulling together thoughts on the Plan B student loans, the way the system is set up means there will be a 40-50% chunk of people who for some of the most expensive years of their careers will pay a 9% higher tax rate than the other 50-60% and this does basically make it impossible to do tax policy.

After some consideration, the synthesis I have settled on is Starmer is bad and cynical for shamelessly pulling strings to block a rival, Burnham is bad and cynical for being ready to risk a Reform mayor in Greater Manchester for his own ambition, and it is time at last for chaos with Ed Miliband.

The BBC’s coverage of the murder of Alex Pretti has been nothing short of disgraceful. He was executed by thugs. The video evidence shows this to be true beyond doubt. To both sides, downplay and create false uncertainty over the facts is not journalism. It is a betrayal of their basic duties.
