well it depends who you ask because I would say there is no magic and the reason it works at all is they have infinite compute cycles and they do everything two or twenty-four times over and in any other context that would be considered malpractice. But you obviously feel differently.

It's a pretty minor thing but Thief has such great looking night skies. Most games don't really render stars as pinpricks like this. It looks amazing on an oled monitor - way more realistic than a skybox or sprites.
