Looking at a thread on the Switch 2 screen, posts like these really get to the heart of what’s wrong with modern discourse: people shutting down legit criticism as “fake” or “intended to mislead”. Just wanna throw this out here - I played a bunch of this and it's extremely cool. The battles are super unique and the story telling rules. Great visuals too. I played this on a base spec Mac Mini and it runs perfectly too.

Interesting to see reactions to Crimson Desert - I had a feeling it would be quite mixed but I still found it deeply fascinating and enjoyable. These days, games often feel made with defined “best practices” yet CD feels like it was made without knowledge of such things making it surprising.

I think this video does a good job explaining the viewpoints of the team but I wanted to make sure it was clear that I wasn't feeling up to participate yet thus not in the video. I will share my own thoughts soon but my opinions largely mirror what Alex says in this video! Check it out...

Ok, they’ve done. The Pulsar lineup of monitors have been updated and a new ULMB mode has been added with variable pulse width. This is the first LCD I’ve ever loved now. The motion clarity at 60hz is CRT perfect. It’s incredible. Now it’s great for modern and retro games alike. A game changer.

It is time! It's been ages since a new game has come along and completely upset every expectation I had. Crimson Desert is that game. As someone that hadn't kept up with it, holy moly, the results are genuinely insane and this is the first complete look at the console version!

So, in the last week, I've encountered 6 copies of PC Genjin 2 for PC Engine that all worked within the last year that are now all dead. It seems like this game specifically is failing in huge numbers. If you own a PC Genjin 2 Hucard, could you test for me? I'm trying to find still working copies!

I actually really enjoyed Tron Ares. Originally skipped it due to poor reception but watched the 4K disc and it was pretty fun. I liked it more than the previous one for sure. Not a masterpiece but enjoyable. Am I alone on that?

I really have to wonder why any company even bothers with GAAS if they're unwilling to properly give them time? Stuff like 2XKO, Highguard, Concord etc - regardless of how you feel about them, killing them off or downsizing the teams just 2-3 weeks after a game releases is insane to me.

Been playing this game lately and, holy moly, it's a ton of fun. A huge leap over the original. The key thing that immediately stands out is that the basic movement and traversal FEELS great. As a result, it makes everything you do in the game feel amazing. Also high FPS + ultrawide support!

This is a travesty and frankly bullshit. These guys are so talented but people like Jim Ryan, presumably, or foolish investors perhaps just had to chase that awful GAAS trend.

There are so many reasons these days where I’m feeling like this focus on generative AI might be one of the worst mistakes in recent human history. Whatever perceived value it could provide isn’t worth the damage it’s doing in so many areas.

It’s wild indeed but at least the Jaguar version now has tolerable music. The original version sounds horrendous in the Jag. The input lag, though, makes me sad.

Thinking about it, I do feel like the last two weeks show that Sony has learned something from the Jim Ryan years. 3 years ago, State of Play would have been dominated by Horizon: Hunter's Gathering as the 'big' thing. By splitting that off last week, it's positive for everyone IMO.

This game is absolutely nuts and amazing. The original was moderately fun but this is genuinely a gigantic leap. There are also some truly jaw dropping moments within including some wildly unexpected NES and SNES games. I am very happy that something like this was made!

Oh yeah - PSA on this one. DO NOT use quality mode. Trust me. It is a bad quality mode and should not be in the game. Performance mode is what you want.
