Having to trickle the taps all day really adds to the sense of doom from the ongoing closures and the single digit temperatures. Great environmental storytelling.

Martin Denny on the stereo, John Pertwee Doctor Who on the TV, and roasted vegetables in the oven. I would be losing it if not for these things right now.

Anyway, contrary to popular belief, it’s actually a civic responsibility, not a mark of laziness, to level criticism at elected officials when they lack the clarity or courage to do the right thing.

My new place has wall-to-wall carpet, an icemaker, dimmers on the light switch, covered offstreet parking, room-specific climate control, and two stupidly large televisions. I feel like I'm living in my parent's house circa 1997.

For the people who have been yelling for at least ten to fifteen years that folks needed to know and learn about the Neo-reactionaries, their ideologies, and why we needed to stop the evil nerds, well, here we are.

Academic here. Sorry, but "the ways in which" is a beautiful turn of phrase. Try saying it out loud sometime at a conference presentation in front of four people who have had seventeen coffees each that day. It's amazing.

This John Pertwee era Doctor Who is so good with the way it tackles British Big Science stuff from the 1970s - drilling a hole through the Earth’s crust, fusion reactors, crewed missions to Mars. Of course they did none of that stuff but they wanted to. We all wanted to. Usbourne Future via Ballard.
