It is so notable how the language of asylum has changed in the post-Farage/small boats world. “Illegal migrants” was once reserved for right wing papers, Now government spokespeople call basic sustenance and shelter for refugees banned from working “handouts”.

In 2013 I was a mental health case worker for a 24yr old woman - a refugee - with no recourse to public funds - staying in a hostel with a 14m old baby. She was relying on charity from the Salvation Army to feed her child and she was emaciated because she was so malnourished herself.

At some point, for the love of God, will someone ANYONE at long last take the council funding crisis seriously?!? Because THIS is what will break down a society, not some poor soul escaping incredible dangers, arriving on our shores.

This contribution to the volume of human misery is yet another policy from Labour based on a false premise, in this case that refugees are overly attracted to Britain.
