So just to remind folks that they have: - Welcomed the courts striking down the GRA and trans protections in EA2010 - Laid waste to youth healthcare and made it pretty conversion-y - Done a trans section 28

Something very dispiriting about the lazy assumption that a people in a place that voted a certain way 10 years ago would be incapable of reacting to new information (and of course plenty of the original voters are now in the great polling booth in the sky).

I see a far right member of the Northern Ireland Assembly has been complaining about “trans invaders” coming to Stormont. The word he’s looking for and failed to reach is *people*. He’s also complaining the definition of woman changes when you cross the Irish Sea. Yeah, because the UK changed it.

my younger daughter Rosie once looked angrily into a messy cupboard and announced "this HAS to change! And I am NOT going to be the one to change it!". I feel like she has a grasp on the political zeitgeist. We need bold action! but they won't even say what action, let alone do anything.

I'm not sure what's worse... the fact they say this and say they're targeting trans people openly... or the fact that no one seems to care. Or the fact we still get told we're over reacting.

Thing is, if the PM cares, he's got a very odd way of showing it. Not doing anything to improve the lives of disabled people. Continuing the demonisation of immigrants. Presiding over the removal of basic rights from trans people. Delaying measures to relieve poverty and taxing jobs more.

You boy, which Starmer make-or-break speech is this?

These are just a few of the mistakes they don't own. There's no "fairness" is this. There's no "fairness" in the appalling rhetoric of the Home Secretary and the treatment of refugees. There's no "fairness" in stripping human rights and health care from trans people.

Surely they've suffered enough?

In which the PM strikes the wrong tone again. This comes across as entitled. This should be more about how Labour has lost its values. Instead of looking after the vulnerable, it's targeted them. No sign that is even in their thinking.

The “Blue Labour” strategy still being promoted by some on Labour right is premised on being able to win social conservatives while holding on to social liberals. Failure state for this strategy is failing to win social cons while alienating social liberals. Here is a map of that failure state:

Call me old fashioned but I miss the good old days when politicians were forced to answer questions BEFORE an election.

It should be utterly clear that Labour's strategy of castigating Farage but implementing his policies with a broken heart emoji after is immoral as much as doomed. Trans people have and deserve an equal right with cis people to participate in public life. This does not mean relying on the kindness of private businesses to allow them to do so; it should be facilitated by law.
