If there's any justice, this thread by the Chair of the Women and Equalities Committee will be studied by politics students in the future as an example of how fascistic discourse had casually entered everyday political speech.

That not only is it just fine to want that, but that is the proper purpose of Government to facilitate that discrimination. And to look snappy about it. And that those discriminated against should be grateful to finally have clarity on the fact that the Government won't protect them.

The context makes it clear that the EHRC and the Government knew exactly what they were doing. That they knew the harm that this would do, but decided to do it anyway. That it is their considered policy that it's _just fine_ for people to want to discriminate against a whole class of other people.

I've seen people defending the quote: "those that wish to exclude trans men and women from their spaces also need to know how to do so without breaching individual rights to privacy" as being taken out of context. So here's the full thread. If anything, the context makes it worse.
