Strange dream last night where Mr Beast was sending me through some sort of augmented reality escape room puzzle to win a million dollars. I flubbed it almost instantly and then immediately woke up.

easily my favorite part of writing music is designing albums. the songwriting itself feels arduous by comparison. but organizing 8 to 10 songs into a larger work of art is absolutely alchemical

something that's always been interesting to me is how people with proximity to cultural power but no particular ability nor expectation to exercise it (admin assistants at museums, adjunct professors, etc) develop detailed opinions unconstrained from disciplinary orthodoxy

the naptime chotiner: "so I just want to clarify - is this quiet time or naptime? because a minute ago you said, im quoting here, 'you need to put away your toys because its almost quiet time.' I did so, and am making no noise. yet you seem frustrated that im not sleeping. Can you expand on that?"

as recorded music sheds its physicality and albums themselves become little more than discrete webpages in enormous digital libraries, the album cover has less and less to communicate. the untitled photograph predominates, valued less for visual interest than for the suggestion of individuality

Fascinating to me how this article retains relevance to so many different topics. As Kosovo to Serbian politics, so Palestine remains the overriding obsession of Israeli politics, despite no-one actually disagreeing with the nationalist consensus, just accusing each other of being fake nationalists.

me: i think with most things, if you look at it on a case-by-case basis, you'll find that especially these days it ends up being this whole issue where you have to sort of look at it through a lens of, hey, you know when it comes to this thing by its very nature isaac chotiner: i completely agree

im always amazed by the euphemisms they come up with because people are hip to the "you are fat and need to lose weight" ruse. now we all have to Fix Our Cortisol, Heal Our Guts, Balance Our Hormones etc and coincidentally all the symptoms of these "problems" are being fat and/or ugly
