Turkington’s work before On Cinema shows an interest in popular culture and kitsch that is as antagonistic as it is solipsistic, romantic. His character on On Cinema resolves these contradictions in an interesting way.

Gregg’s character on on cinema is a real stroke of genius to me. Most of what Turkington did before it is pretty scathing, blunt stuff (zip code rapists, faxed head, neil hamburger). But on On Cinema i think he stumbles on something really beautiful (?)
