Kingsley Amis's Memoirs chapter on Tony Armstrong-Jones, aka Lord Snowdon, is hilarious. He manages to inadvertently insult Princess Margaret *twice*, once to her fiancé TA-J, & once to a later friend. Lord Snowdon took some marvellous pictures of Amis, though.

I really enjoyed Kingsley Amis's Memoirs, published in 1991. The portrait on the front is by Jerry Bauer. As in so many photos, Amis looks like such an amiable chap here. Which he might have been for short periods, but otherwise mainly irritated & irritating. But usually funny.
