Difficult really, to think of a single, more disgusting act a journalist can commit than lying to the public to justify someone being murdered by their government for activism. But this is who these people always were.

Sorry but the way we vote in L.A. makes no sense. Every registered voter is sent a ballot, votes, drops them off, and then an army of workers methodically and with full transparency works through them to ensure there are no mistakes and you get a text and email if there's a problem? That's fucked.

I have my issues with Bluesky and its management, but the fact that so many people who work in media are desperate to present it as a failure because it didn't instantly dethrone Twitter is so weird. Especially when it's one of the only sites that doesn't bury their own link posts.

This is an insane take that shifts the assets of the United States from belonging to the People of the US into personal belongings of the President. It changes the President from the servant of Americans into the king of them.

trump is uniquely good among politicians at taking credit for everything that happens, and that has given him a reputation as a guy who Gets Things Done (even if they’re bad things) but it makes deflecting blame for shit a lot harder for him, especially shit that’s clearly his fault

One thing Pelley is doing that's very smart is dropping the existence of a bunch of stories about political bias, interviewees picking interviewers and "incompetence and unprofessionalism" without actually telling them. Creates natural avenues for leaks and followups over next few weeks.

This will not end w/ voting rights. The fundamental premises of these SCOTUS opinions are: 1) Anti-discrimination is actually unconstitutional discrimination; 2) Intentional discrimination isn't actionable if any alternative rationale is presented. It's the beginning of the end of civil rights law.
