this is the closest I've ever come to actually suggesting a "one neat trick" suggestion for anything, but I'm so serious here. the Virginia Constitution gives the legislature the power to set retirement ages for judges "REGARDLESS OF THE TERM TO WHICH ELECTED OR APPOINTED." make it 54 right now.

Again this should inspire wall-to-wall media coverage for months. The crowning achievement of the Civil Rights Movement is dead. Black people just lost all of their remaining political power in the South. This is a monumental moment in American history that simply isn't being treated as such.

FDA officials yank two studies of Covid vaxx after they were accepted for publication and forbid scientists to release one study of shingles vaxx. Both Covid studies were large, w/ 11M+ total subjects; both showed vaxx was safe, as did the shingles study. No real explanations given for these acts.

This is really important. There's a tendency to conflate 'free speech' with 'uncurated speech' but they're different. Social signalling is how we avoid having to criminalise and enforce many difficult to define but terrible behaviours. The choices reputable institutions make shape that signal.

My vision, for what it's worth: Clean electricity powering almost everything. Denser towns and cities with easily accessible food, transit, parks. Cities ringed not by car-dependent sprawl but green belts of parks and farms: solar, wind, food. Fast electric trains between city centers.
