When I wrote about The Pitt's fanfiction phenomenon I mentioned "The Fruitful Void" -- and a lot of fandom folks resonated with the idea that they build into the structure that the creators set up! This is a deep dive on game theories, fandom, with plenty of my fairy prince, John Stamper.

This was such a fun conversation, and I think it'll appeal to both fic-only people and folks who do TTRPG and/or other roleplaying in addition to fanfiction. I learned in the course of this conversation that TTRPG people love deconstructing their own behaviors as much as fandom people do. 🥰

I worked one (1) day at Aqueduct two decades ago, and wasn't too torn up about never doing so again lol, but its kind of slow sad decline (while the NY tracks I actually work at turn into Event Extravaganzas) definitely gives me a particular feeling. My family used to walk to walk there to bet!

Just evacuated the 5 train after the emergency brakes brought us to a dramatic stop and I’m pleased to report the vibes in this city continue to be impeccable. Making small talk, laughing, generally having a swell time as we went backwards through the full length of the train at a glacial pace.

I interviewed Damien Atkins about his role as Magnus in ep 3 of The Vampire Lestat! What a wonderful actor to speak with, playing a character with THE boldest introduction of the season.

Episode 3 is when this season unlocked for me; having seen 6 out of 7 so far, I think it remains tied for my favorite episode of the season, if "favorite" can be completely harrowing and emotionally gutting. @gavia.bsky.social's analysis is so, so sharp—it's what this level of writing deserves!
