Also, Cronin's Mummy keeps introducing potentially cool ideas (parents struggling to care for a disabled child; Omelas-adjacent worldbuilding; the toxic fame factor that builds up around missing American kids), but then just ignores them in favour of doing a blockbuster Conjuring shtick.

Another ep that you can definitely listen to without watching the film! I liked Lee Cronin's previous two movies, but his Mummy is kind of a letdown - not least because it's more of an Exorcist movie than a Mummy movie, and doesn't do anything interesting with its demonic possession conceit.
