The midterm gerrymandering war and the Iran war alike show Trump's inability to imagine that the people he's picking fights with have any agency, any ability to respond. He loves his "you don't have the cards" metaphor but he's amazingly terrible at actually thinking about whether they do.

The next administration must make clear that any immigrant, refugee, or asylum seeker wrongly deported, exiled, or otherwise mistreated by this administration will be readmitted with an expedited path to citizenship. Send a plane to get them. We can't undo the damage. But we can do something.

My dental hygienist and I were talking today about the sharp rise she's (anecdotally) seen in grinding/clenching over the last five or so years. Maybe that would be a telling metric to track, how many of us are cribbing like horses on a fencepost, alongside the economic numbers.

I'm more optimistic about future SCOTUS expansion/jurisdiction stripping/etc., but: This is a good reminder that too many pundits view "rule of law" as a purely procedural commitment, so the substance of what executive defiance is over is largely irrelevant.

Yeah. "I disagree with the Court's legal analysis" is one thing, but "the Court isn't using legal analysis to decide cases" is another. The latter is no longer in the realm of law and should not be treated as if it is.

two related thoughts: i suspect that many tech companies get away with utterly ratshit, incompetent leadership because you've got a fat middle section of competence holding up the roof AI is an existential threat to that middle section of the workforce, and will lay bare a lot of incompetence

i'll take the bold (for bluesky) position that working for raytheon or northrup or whatever does not make you an irredeemable person, but palantir is very different because they are making karp's insane worldview the company's official public position, they're explicitly saying you believe this, too

In the last year many public servants have had their lives ruined. People who knew less than they did pushed them out of work they loved with no real plan. Many were defamed and "put in trauma." But that is not who Palantir is referring to. It views criticizing the tech bros as intolerable.

This is so incoherent that it only makes sense as a billionaires reactionary brain farts. Eg: public employees are not “priests” and are over compensated. Reality: they are underpaid and have been serially abused. Next point, people engaging in public life (read: DOGE, Palantir) deserve our grace.
