"The changes are part of a broader push to reshape pay structures at state-owned enterprises and correct so-called โinvertedโ salary systems in which some mid-level managers earn more than top executives." this was good! those mid-level managers had actual talent.

As someone who has covered robots and robotics a lot, this is absolutely the framing presented by the creators that the press is just regurgitating. A lot of these robotics folks donโt actually have any idea what theyโll be used for they just constantly parrot โreplace humansโ

"But what if they become more important than the regular universes?" Guess who doesn't care? Me. The universe putting out watercooler content that fosters an active diverse community is going to draw eyes. The universe that isn't scaring off new readers is going to sell books.

And I don't know how you maneuver in an industry where your most vocal and dependable audience is shrinking like the Wasp but also flies into an instantaneous rage if you even consider making a book for anyone else. Even as you continue making books for them.

Thankfully, the library exists and is very open to comics. But a library cannot provide the public with "watercooler content." A console can. A movie theater can. A television can. Not only do you get to experience the art, but then you get to experience the community surrounding the art.

I...don't know how to feel. I wanted so badly for comics to be as popular as TV or prose, but perhaps it is going to occupy a similar space to theater.

A lot of people are still in the denial about how much the median Democratic voter, the median Democratic volunteer, and the median Democratic activist has shifted on a variety of issues. Well here's the handpicked candidate of Chuck Schumer being booed, about Gaza, at the Dem convention.

Excited to attend the ribbon-cutting for the next segment of Californiaโs solar canal initiative later this month in Hickman. Imagine generating solar power over 4,000 miles or so canals across the state. A lot of Sierra and Colorado River water to save via avoided evaporation.

two things infuriate me about Talisanta 1) They invented pass/partial success/fail forward and character advancement based on roleplaying rewards and free-form XP expenditures in the late 1970s and, like, no one fucking noticed apparently until 2010 when PBTA came out 2) the fucking elf thing

I still applaud the video game Rogue Trader for having 90% of the dialogue boil down to 1) "what if we did the normal thing?" (your party is now immune to being electrocuted, gets +50% critical hit chances, and has been given free ice cream) 2) Execute them (you get jack shit)

I love Prince of Darkness so much because, thanks to John Carpenter being cut off from a big budget, he cast Victor Wong and Dennis Dun in...like...roles that would normally go to white guys in the 1980s as "quantum physics dude" and "horny student" and I appreciate that a lot

Apropos of nothing, if the creator of something you cherished turns out to be a horrible person, the answer isn't to close your hearts for fear of disappointment, it's to love more. Love with abandon, because there's always new art to find, love so much as to always outweigh the disappointments. โค๏ธ
