Isao Takahata's epic transatlantic anime series 3000 Leagues in Search of Mother (aka Marco) started its run on Japanese TV 50 years ago today. It's still relatively unknown in the English-speaking world, so I'm chuffed that I got to write a mini-essay on the series in our book Ghibliverse.
