On May 31, 1921, 300 people died in the Tulsa Race riots, most of them Black, at the hands of a White mob. One of the worst race riots in U.S. history, it lasted two days. Hundreds of people were injured, and more than 1000 Black-owned homes and businesses were destroyed.
