There were 13 elections last night for a statewide office. Democrats swept all 13. That’s 1 in NJ. 3 in VA. 2 in GA. And 7 in PA (all judges, retention and regular). They won 12 of the 13 races by double-digits, with margins up to 24%. The only other race, the tightest, they won by 6%.

This is the kind of principled stand a genuinely independent third party could and should have taken up. Perhaps a group like the Socialist Workers Party (if they actually engaged with real local issues and weren't utterly transfixed by Benjamin Netanyahu and Fidel Castro.).

Jacob Frey is a masterful practitioner of the Trumpian style of politics. And make no mistake, his third-term agenda is to gut the city council and further entrench an unaccountable municipal autocracy. (But that isn't a "kitchen table issue," so none of his opponents warned us about it.)
