Last night, the Richfield Transportation Commission discussed four bikeway concepts for Penn Avenue. Three will go forward for input. Option 1 is the "66th Street"-style. Option 2 (like Minnetonka Blvd) is a possibility alongside Option 3 (like Hennepin Ave uptown).

Traffic laws are now photo-enforced in the City of Mpls. Five traffic safety cameras were placed on accident-prone streets and will now issue tickets for speeding - $40 or $80 depending on the speed. This is a step towards encouraging behavior change to slow down drivers and keep our city safe.🚦

Again, the key fact here is that convention organizers lost 180 votes for mayor (23% of the total) and wrongfully dropped the third-place candidate. Without those errors it is difficult for there to have been a mayoral endorsement. The organizers ADMIT the errors, but argued to keep the result.

There were serious problems with street encampments in the commercial heart of the neighborhood, some elevated crime, some new regulations for businesses, and property taxes are up while values are down. And then the city closed the core 10-block commercial strip for TWO YEARS, for construction.

My “grievance” is that 50%+ of the businesses in my neighborhood have shut while the Minneapolis progressive twitter clique has first assured us that there’s no problem, then that it’s natural part of the business cycle, and finally that old Uptown is dead and can’t come back and that’s okay
