You don't have to answer the door for the Feds. Do not voluntarily talk to the Feds. If they have a warrant signed by an actual judge, then they can do precisely what the warrant says. But DO NOT TALK TO THE FEDS. Do not answer the door. If you're arrested, your only words are "I want a lawyer."

The arguments over the merits of gas stoves vs induction reminded me of a much more significant cooking transition: from open hearth to enclosed stove. The benefits for the women who did the cooking were obvious, but men liked sitting around the fireplace, so the transition took decades.

I don't know how much it broke through to people who weren't on the ground in the Twin Cities during Metro Surge, but ICE agents were so horned up for violence that they did shit like shoot through closed doors and into childrens' bedrooms. It was all a power fantasy come to life for them.

Frey's first veto, in 2020, fixed a mistake in new billboard rules and had unanimous City Council support. I was a Council aide then and recall Frey's staff was stressed bc they knew a veto, even if constructive, looked fractious and uncooperative. But this was before his veto pen became a schtick.

I am extremely troubled by the amount of standby pay issued to MPD officers during Operation Metro Surge. MPD data shows some officers were paid nearly 24 hours per day for 32 days straight, while dozens were paid 8-12 extra hours each day while we stood out in the cold protecting our neighbors. 1/

I worked for a progressive City Council member in Frey's first term and when my boss would ask for basic details on police and the budget during Council meetings (in 2020!), the mayor would refuse and once even likened him to a baby for asking questions. Frey eventually just stopped showing up.
