Excellent thread, and honestly, graphic novels have been a big part of the book market for long enough that publishers have no excuse for failing to hire editors who know how comics work. They've set their unreasonable standards and refuse to budge from them, at the cost of comic artists' health.

can't help but wonder if some editors (not in the know editors, but maybe some in the know too) are looking at cape comics and seeing these numbers without recognizing that most graphic novelists are doing letters through colors on their own, it's not a group effort with 4 people working in tandem
