🗣️ Bay Area artists! Comic Con Oakland has their debut event in May on Mother’s Day weekend, and their Artist Alley and Exhibitor applications are open! I think it’s going to be a great event because the folks running it are pros who actually care about comics and supporting creative people.

I have to admit, I'm curious what the jury fee goes to when applying to art/craft festivals. The one I heard back from today had over 500 applications. It's $45 per application. Over 20K made BEFORE booth fees. I always wonder if jurers are paid or if it goes towards advertising, city staff etc?

I think if I want to get into fine art fairs for my "more serious" wave/flower work I need to do a full setup that caters to a gallery booth look. My booth photos (of my previous craft setups) count for a lot of jurying score and heck if I can't seem to get into them with what I've submitted.

so i don't live there now but i am From Philly, it's meaningfully part of me even 20+ years out and i'm not into hockey but this guy has transcended mere hockey mascot, imo. i've been thinking about this kind of treatment for him basically since go & especially since they doubled down on the flag-

Using watercolors for the first time in over a decade....thanks Grumbacher for sending me these 🖤 I started with just a petal study, and gonna try a whole flower next. (And yes I couldn't resist using Acryla gouache to paint the black background in afrer because I really wanted that dramaaa)
