Indie game devs, it's okay if you only work on your game a few hours in a day. Most people are only actually productive for a few hours each day. Long hours are for show, not for getting anything done*. * We all have the occasional locked in marathon day though

Game dev update: still working on enemy ai. Almost done coming up with a danger level number, which will both allow me to assign a value to holding cards back rather than attacking, and it will let me have the music speed up when you're in danger. TLDR: solid progress, enemy ai done soonish I hope.

Other indie game devs, you should do this. Poland gets continually shafted with pricing in things like this, since they get lumped with other countries whose currencies are stronger Poland is a large and very online market, it's good to make your pricing fair there and not rely on the auto pricing

All you need to have AI write code is to write a bunch of detailed instructions on how to write code that is basically code itself! What a time saver! I get to do the same thing, but save five minutes if it's really simple to do anyway, AND I learn nothing! Amazing technology!

Indie game devs, what is your schedule for working on your game? Don't have one? You need one. Can't finish a massive project that takes months or years without a schedule or a routine. Mine is to wake up, and immediately work on my game. Sometimes for only an hour, but progress is progress.

Making a game is a massive accomplishment that anyone should be proud of, even if the game isn't that great. Making a game when you used AI slop? Not so much. That just says I wanted to make something but I didn't really care that much.

I'm looking for advice. I'm working on some of the narrative segments in my game. I didn't offer textual descriptions of things, because you can see them on screen. But adding a literary type description is fun, I'm just not sure it provides much value. Do you like a text description as well?

This is a good example of what I meant with a previous post talking about how we need better categorization and terminology than just "gamers". India is absolutely an important gaming market..... If your game is on phones. If your game is not on mobile, they are pretty much completely irrelevant.

Back in I think February, I looked at the mayoral candidates. I saw my state assembly member was running, but I wanted to pick the furthest left one to support. So I decided it was ride or die with whoever Zohran Mamdani was, and to tell everyone I knew about him. Can't believe he actually won.

Sometimes I'm tempted to quote post really stupid comments I see just to be like hey everyone get a load of this idiot. But then I remember that just gives their stupid comment a platform it wouldn't have otherwise, and I let it die in silence and solitude.

I have always played dynasty warriors explicitly because I want to press a couple buttons and kill hordes of enemies. Also FANTASTIC intro games for non gamers. They're fun and simple. Just pick your hottie and go WILD.

Bluesky is rather unique because when I post something nice and supportive, I usually get more engagement than ordinary. This seems like how social media should work. Positive reinforcement for being nice instead of angry and hateful.

The game dev community on bluesky is pretty awesome. There are so many devs here, and everyone is nice and helpful.

Watching a streamer ask chatGPT what the most popular games are, be shocked at the result, determine it can't possibly be correct, then ask it again. He's on the third time asking now. He is aware that the AI slop is giving him answers that are wrong, but he just keeps asking???

I've been beating this drum for a while. Solo game dev is great because you can jump wildly between things. When I need a break from code, I just jump into something artistic. It's very invigorating. Probably why I haven't gotten tired of it yet despite working on it every day for like 1.3 years.

In league of Legends, riot has in the past shared data that women players almost exclusively play champions that are women. Due to this, in my game, I made a faction in my game for Mokosz, a Slavic goddess who often represents women. This way, if you want to build a deck of women, it is viable.
