Sen. Andy Kim, a man who also swept up glass after the events of Jan. 6. I wonder if the actions of ICE and media response would have been different if he were white.

Tbh I'm so sick of thinkpieces about how the left doesn't do x or y anymore without taking into account the material conditions involved, and strategizing about how we might work creatively within those constraints.

In 2017, we traveled to Brooklyn to do a show at BAM, and our guest dropped out at the last minute. We called Stephen Colbert and he agreed to fill in *but only if we asked him the questions we had prepped for the original guest, without telling him who it was.*

And this is exactly why disabled and/or chronically ill people have been saying this was dangerous rhetoric all along—because nobody deserves/deserved to die of COVID, even those with preexisting conditions. Now the worst people on earth are undoing public health gains based on this thinking. Oops.

Again this should inspire wall-to-wall media coverage for months. The crowning achievement of the Civil Rights Movement is dead. Black people just lost all of their remaining political power in the South. This is a monumental moment in American history that simply isn't being treated as such.

True. And diligent tutors will try to explain why this is problematic in terms of progress, learning, ethics, accuracy and much more. Hopefully this will make a difference. But, if any of those students continue into a job in policy, research etc they'll then be *actively* encouraged to rely on AI

Great thread about the important work funded by the Met Gala, and how easily fashion, costuming, and textile work are dismissed as “not art,” in part because they have often been the work of women.

The kind of chart that reveals the structuring power of law. There are some people - probably not the justices themselves, although this is what they say in public - who really believe this happened because “everyone stopped being racist” or something. Social change and legal change go together

If you were horrified watching elected leaders run & scramble because of gun violence, just imagine how my daughter Jaime felt in school running from an active shooter before she was killed. Now, become a part of the solution & only vote for people determined to address gun violence in America.

Reactions I'm seeing to the White House Toady Association shooting make it clear that lefties are just as prone to conspiracy thinking as are righties. It's nuts. A conspiracy should be the *last* thing you reach for, and only then with *mountains* of evidence.

We know it’s “not all men”. We don’t need you to shout it at us. Our issue is we can’t possibly tell which men will hurt us until it’s way past too late. 1 in 3 women experience sexual assault. The real number is likely much higher. We must approach all men with caution.
