Human brains feed off of negativity. Negative thoughts are easily digested and play in a loop in your mind all of the time. The reality, however, is that there is also A LOT OF GOOD happening every single minute. You have to do more work to pay attention to the good but it's worth it.

Should the worst happen you won't be any use if you've spent months prior tuned into every evolving crisis while absorbing the hot takes and fights over each incident. If one wanted to subdue and weaken targets creating real and imagined cycles of bad news and scary rhetoric would be effective, no?

The volume of messages I still get from MP's staffers and people working as local councillors seeking support suggest whichever party* the job is harder, largely thankless, and often really challenging. For constituents, because of constituents, due to social/media, and rising hate and intolerance.
