are we doing “cozy Ghibli” to Guillermo del Toro films like they don’t also have some of the most shocking and visceral violence in them as well

Is this what House Democrats consider harsh language? This would be great if anyone from the GOP felt shame or gave a shit about anything other than being cruel and rich. No more half-hearted finger-wagging. People are starving. People are losing their livelihoods. Grow some teeth and claws.

Listening to

’s Vergecast and Decoder is causing wild mental whiplash. The podcasts rightfully talk about how awful AI is. Then all the ad breaks are for tech companies talking about how great their AI products are. This future sucks!

Every company website is so desperate. You're on their page for five seconds and they want to send you notifications for the rest of your life. It's like if you asked somebody at an airport how to get to Terminal D and they told you, then got down on one knee and proposed.

Same. It’s a kind of weird that continues to occupy a place outside the mainstream, an icky dystopian vision that dared to be indelicate with a beloved IP. It’s the kind of bold weirdness that only comes from inspiration, with a minimum of cynicism.

Petition to make CREEPSHOW the official Halloween movie. I know, I know, there's a pretty great flick called HALLOWEEN, but CREEPSHOW starts with a jack-o'-lantern and is a lot more in the celebratory, colorful spirit of the holiday. I love HALLOWEEN but CREEPSHOW is the definitive Halloween movie.

A Halloween recommendation from
@genrevision.com
and your favorite devil, Drewcifer 😈🎃 Watch more pre-1980 horror movies. Include a healthy heap of black & white flicks. Use the season to educate yourself on classics. Look for gems. I'll give recs in the replies if folks want them!

I'm tired. We're all tired. This isn't hard to understand. You can't inflate prices of basic necessities like food and housing to ridiculous highs while keeping wages at poverty levels, then act surprised when luxury goods/services and large purchases become unattainable or payments unaffordable.

Pretty confused by how TRON became a big-budget movie franchise. Was it a bit hit when it came out? No. Did it become a big hit on video/TV? Also no. Do people have fond nostalgic memories of it? Eh kinda but not really. Was it secretly great and critically acclaimed? No again

I wanna say a word here on behalf of the people who run social media accounts for institutions, companies & famous people. By and large, they are not "interns." The bigger the client, the more they get paid, because managing the waves of public opinion is tricky, and the amount of abuse is unending.
