In 2019, I visited my hometown, a European city of <500k residents. I went across town with my grandmother, and her disgust that the next bus was 10 minutes away is burned into me. If a small city in Europe can have a transit system that good, there’s no reason for us to accept bad transit, either.

A strategy I am recommending to people who don’t want to mask all the time is always in healthcare facilities and public transportation, AND if you see someone in a mask, put yours on. The first helps protect spaces high risk people may have no choice but to go, the second shows them support.
