One of my stronger parenting beliefs is that if you offload storytime to AI you are failing as a parent and your kids will one day look back at those moments with disappointment

as much as i despise AI, i have to admit that it has made it possible for anyone, no longer just the very wealthy, to be a big adult baby who doesn't know how to interact with normal people and throws a fit whenever they don't get their way

I am going to be a massive humorless asshole about woo-woo shit, no matter how seemingly harmless, for the rest of my life due to this. astrology, homeopathic medicine, etc etc it's all bullshit and it's not fucking harmless. there are people who will die due to this who would have otherwise lived.

I'm not joking when I say mRNA technology is more important than "AI" and it's a tragedy we're throwing billions into one while our government is aggressively defunding the other.

This is the worst ongoing scandal in the uk imho. It's been proven in a series of places such as Shrewsbury and Leeds, that there's a 'natural birth' ideology that's killing mothers and babies

Me: the Dune movies are flawed adaptations of flawed text, which are fun but lose some of what makes the books so engaging and, yes, frustrating Me, seeing Denis’ latest freaks on parade:

This story is such a bad example of journalists *creating* news. They sent out a survey to 5,000 GPs. 752 replied. 540 said they’d never refused to give a fit note to someone who said they had mental health issues. 162 said they had refused, which is over a fifth.

Hundreds of GPs tell BBC they have never refused a fit note for mental health concerns
The number of fit notes issued has been rising, with more than 11.2m approved in England last year.

These are the 4 things AI can do well: •Clean up your email inbox (badly) •Give my shittiest neighbor (Alan) something to talk about at a party •Tell a 12 yr old to kill himself •Incinerate a school at 10:16 AM on a Tuesday You can see why we need to base our economy around it

one of the fake-savviest things people say online is “pharma companies don’t wanna find a cure for ___ because it’s more profitable to keep you sick” and like, no, they would love to make a shit ton of money very quickly, that’s kind of, for better and worse, capitalism’s whole deal

As a fucking parent TALK TO YOUR FUCKING KIDS THEN. Worried they'll see porn? Talk to them about porn. Worried they'll see gore? Talk to them about gore. Worried they'll get groomed? Talk to them about red flags and cultivate trust with them so they won't feel they have to hide things from you.

Unfriendly reminder, AI is being used to destroy trust. Do not normalize the use of AI. AI can not reliably enhance videos or low-quality images. This is the quiet replacement of reality. Do not let this be normalized.

Let’s be clear: if the Palestine Action hunger strikers die, the government will bear moral responsibility | George Monbiot
The three remaining hunger strikers have been convicted of nothing. Yet with astonishing cruelty, ministers refuse to listen to their reasonable demands, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot
