If the Palestine Action hunger strikers die - which they could do at any moment, as they are now very close to the end - it will be the government that killed them. Today’s column explains why. Please share, and write urgently to your MP.

Let’s be clear: if the Palestine Action hunger strikers die, the government will bear moral responsibility | George Monbiot
The three remaining hunger strikers have been convicted of nothing. Yet with astonishing cruelty, ministers refuse to listen to their reasonable demands, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

Absolutely devastating news about the passing of Rob Reiner and his wife Michelle. What an achievement to make so many people’s favourite film, but from a range of six different titles. Here on the set of the superlative and unique The Princess Bride.

Once more preaching to the choir (I hope): If GC people were really concerned about women's safety and rights, they'd be focusing on this, not persecuting a minority in an effort to scrub them from existence.

We're watching the wholesale burning of every scrap of dignity afforded to trans people in the UK, their rights, their medical services, their employment, their place within society, their bodily functions. It is a disgrace, and a disgusting stain on the government and media of this country.

Actually, using inclusive language is good, supporting asylum seekers is good, being an empathetic person is good. I won’t be swayed on these truths because this degenerative capitalist society of ours thinks the wind is blowing the other way

As a handful of us have been screaming for a long time now: there is no "ceasefire". The UN security council has approved the further colonisation of Gaza, and Israel is being rewarded for its genocide. It's still the 1700s in the West, we just have phones and cheap dopamine addictions now.

IT'S '6-7', COOPER. A GENERATION ALPHA TREND. WHAT THEY CALL A 'MAY-MAY'. IT'S AN ORPHANED SIGNIFIER, NO SIGNS ATTACHED. ONE COULD CALL IT DADAIST, BUT SOMME SAY IT'S TOO STUPID TO BE DADA. IT'S ANTI-MEANING, ANTI-HUMOUR, BUT DAMN IF THOSE KIDS DON'T FIND IT A CRACK-UP.

A reminder that this anti-trans panic is 100% bullshit and exactly none of our country’s problems are related to someone expressing their gender identity and everyone who isn’t a hate-filled weirdo knows it.

I see we've reached the point where news organs are putting out deeply harrowing, and incredibly reported, stories like this every single day, without it making even the slightest dent in ChatGPT's constant fellation by all other sections of the press.

As a biologist, It really is a great analogy. Also trees. It's like saying, "There are trees and grass, you have to be one or the other." Ok... where is the line that defines "is a tree?" what about bush-like grasses? Palm trees? NON-tree palms? What about horsetails and their tree-like ancestors?

As we await a verdict in the trial of Soldier F, another reminder that in 2010 the Bloody Sunday inquiry found - the killings were unjustified - none of the 14 dead (7 of whom were children) had guns - no warnings were given - no soldiers were under threat - the troops were the first to open fire
