he/him i’m an architect. fayetteville, arkansas. everyone deserves good design.
The City of Dallas is becoming the concrete hellscape that it deserves to be. I lived there my whole life, but stuff like this, and the very real threats to tear down city hall, makes me very glad that I moved away 5 years ago.

Bulldozing the seat of government — in the form of a historic and iconic city hall — to accommodate a billionaire-owned sports team sounds like the type of thing an AI bot would recommend. It speaks to the direction and leadership of this city and makes me wonder what I'm even doing here.

My colleague Aaron Parsley just won a Pulitzer for this story, written days after he survived the July 4 floods that killed his nephew. It's one of the most gutwrenching and memorable things you'll ever read. Please do.

The July 4 Texas flooding ripped our Kerr County home from its pillars, pulling us into the water and into the night. Then morning came.

*taps sign* Once again, let me explain that the Mayor of Dallas is essentially an at-large city council member with a few additional duties. His vote is one of 15, and he didn't even go to the briefing he demanded.

This should be considered fraud. I would NEVER want to deceive my readers by having my byline attached to slop I didn't write, and I'm livid as a reader that McClatchy thinks readers would even accept this. It's just dishonest and insulting.

the state nickname is ‘the natural state’ but our state government does nearly everything they can to harm the natural beauty that draws so many to arkansas. kneecapping homeowner/small-scale solar to favor large-scale gas and coal power will only cause further harm to our beloved natural beauty.

Regardless of whether it’s all talk, when the leader of our country expresses plainly genocidal intent, everyone has to do something. For citizens of all political stripes, it means rejecting this madness. For Congress, it means taking action to rein him in. Now.

"For Trump, it was a gut-driven decision enabled by an echo chamber that did not exist in his first term." But MAGA told me women are too emotional to lead and make decisions on the world stage. Meanwhile, Mr. President ignored logic and intelligence and made an emotional decision to start a war.

Maybe states and local municipalities should also endeavor to be more thoughtful with their zoning and land use policies so that residential sprawl doesn't get near these racetracks.

You’re almost there, Little Rock. Almost there. What if instead of creating niche grocery store buses, you made a robust bus network that allowed residents to go wherever they wanted including grocery stores? Would that be so difficult?
