Back to only my personal hat: DSA attacking Antonio Reynoso as “establishment” is so bonkers and hypocritical. Reynoso is one of the most anti-establishment and reform minded politicians we have right now.

This should be deeply embarrassing for the NYC City council. Paying interns would be one of the easiest and cheapest "lead by example" things that Council could do on equal access and living wages. Who can afford to do an unpaid internship for the summer? (not poor folk!)

So DJT spent years blasting Obama for unfreezing $1.7 billion in assets bc he's funding a regime of terror or w/e... and now he's facilitated a $300 billion fund on top of sanctions relief and unfreezing of assets after a war that will likely cost $100+ billion when all is said and done. #winning.

Looking at this another way... NYC had a low-cost, quick-to-implement, and highly effective way to massively improve transportation and just stopped investing in it?

Select Busses are extremely popular because they're frequent, fast and have straightforward predictable routes. Implementing another 20 (5 per boro) next-gen SBS routes would massively improve bus ridership would represent a massive transportation improvement for NYC. It's low hanging fruit.

The President of the United States is taking the USA to the brink of autocracy. The top 5% of households own 65% of all wealth in the USA and the economist is upset because people want affordable rent, college and healthcare? This is exactly why younger people have lost faith in these institutions.

Steve makes a great point. As a BID alum we would have partner orgs often refuse to work directly with city unless it was an upfront grant. The reason is that city takes insanely long to reimburse…like non-profits are going out of biz bc it takes they don’t have 6-12 months of working capital.

FWIW the notion that POC NYers don't support livable streets has always been ridiculous to me. It just never matched my lived experience growing up in Brooklyn. As advocates we need to do a better job bringing the message to communities in ways that naturally resonate-- bc the ideas are popular!

I think people need to normalize the notion of genuinely liking a politician but also realizing they the need to (respectfully) hold them accountable. Both can be true. 🤷🏾‍♂️

The MTA "platform barriers" look much better than the original painted prototypes but are still pretty useless. I wonder if the agency will release any data as to how effective this solution is at preventing falls on tracks.

The MTA can install all the ADA compliant features it wants on the subway but little of it matters if the elevators and escalators are down for extended periods of time.
