Twitter, Washington Post and CBS have been purchased and largely gutted and/or perverted and the effects are just starting to be felt. I think it’s time we embraced a new paradigm on media and the public interest. There is no easy answer but it’s an essential convo.

FWIW one the simplest ways to increase the affordability of NYC transit *today* would be to auto-enroll SNAP recipients into Fair Fares via HRA adjunctive eligibility. SNAP is a strong proxy for Fair Fairs eligibility and 75-90% of eligible NYers have SNAP vs only 30-35% for Fair Fares.

I will also say that I don't think I've ever seen a situation like this where it's <freezing for so long after a storm. Most of the times, the snow melts within a few days, there isn't one day in two weeks that will be above freezing after the snow in NYC, which is historic.

Pet Peeve: Saying that sidewalks are the responsibility of the property owner and not the city ignores the fact that it's *the city* that is ultimately responsible for enforcement. ...and if that accountability system doesn't work, then its *the city* that then is in charge of creating new system.

I think it's okay to admit there is room for improvement in snow clearance w/o having your NYC bonafides questioned. Not sure how this has become the dominant narrative--but the crosswalks are legitimately concerning for the mobility challenged and elderly and that should concern us all.

Say it louder for the people in the back. You would not need a new bus terminal if there were subways to NJ. This is why we don't have a bus terminal for Brooklyn and Queens.

Historical context: The short-term affordability argument was also used to justify keeping the 5-cent fare from 1904-1948 and is widely considered to been the greatest factor in subway's decline. Spending on short-term usually has practical effect on long-term capital projects.

Funding has been off since October. This should be a complete national scandal on top of all other national scandals. The administration is holding our money hostage while they make up new rules.

Big thanks to NYC's delivery workers who continue to make it easier for elderly and immobilized to get emergency deliveries and food during the worst on-street conditions. This is a vast and under-appreciated ecosystem that is largely powered by e-mobility.
