I am starting season 6 of M*A*S*H and was surprised to see that Larry Linville did not return, and his character, Frank Burns, was written out of the show off-screen in a similar manner to his fate in the movie. I thought for sure that if anyone was dropping out this season it would be Loretta Swit.

Nobody will understand this but in the movie I am watching Evan Stone performs a horror-themed parody of the Charlie Daniels’ Band classic, Uneasy Rider, and I haven’t been this genuinely surprised by a movie in actual years. This is a real ‘diamond in the smut mines’ moment for me.

Something interesting about Night/Dawn/Day of the Dead is that each one feels like it is set right after the events of the previous film, but they are also clearly set in the time that they were made, making each one a kind of soft reboot with the timeline moved up.

The Romero-thon continues with Day of the Dead (1985). This feels like a step-up from Dawn on the technical side, but with a slightly weaker script. Bubs and Dr. Logan are fantastic though, as is Tom Savini's gore effects work. 4.5/5 stars. 📽️🎬🧟
