This is quite an astonishing poll in Northern Ireland. the Belfast Telegraph would be classed as a pro-Unionist newspaper in NI. As a reminder, the Good Friday Agreement offers a process for NI to, essentially, re-join the EU with Ireland. (i.e. a reunification border poll) 1/3

This is one of the cliff edges experts like
@vivamjm.bsky.social
were warning about prior to the brexit vote. In brief, supply chains have evolved 50+ years...as borders, barriers & bureaucracy vanished with the SM. It's not possible to "make brexit work" and you can't eat a blue passport. 5/5

In London this week and it's a little jarring how Orban is being reported by BBC & others. They correctly describe him as a pal of Putin, Trump & the Far Right, yet, they would never use the same to describe Nigel Farage, who's Reform party candidates are regularly platformed on the BBC. 1/5

I cannot be the only one to notice the Greens beating Reform and Labour out of the park in almost every by-election recently. Yet, GE polls suggest a lead with Reform and their candidates are all over BBC current affairs programmes. Has the penny finally dropped with the English electorate?

true but I'm reminded of a German TV special comparing Irish to German reunification. Their biggest mistake was they rushed it and that's still a problem today. Britain faces a fiscal crisis not seen since the 1970s, with English nationalists wanting an ECHR exit, cutting NI loose might follow.

Khalidi's previous book "The Hundred Years' War on Palestine" was so prescient. He argued the conflict is not a struggle between two equal national movements, but a colonial war waged by great powers against an indigenous population. His lecture is in Belfast, too!
