Science teachers have been on the sidelines of the politics in teaching argument by focusing on the content of science. We’ve mostly remained quiet as science was attacked by creationists, climate deniers, flat earthers, and anti-vaxxers.

Science education needs to change as the attacks on science grow. Too many adults are scientifically illiterate because science education has focused on facts and sterilized versions of science history.

So many of my students saw that video from yesterday. Some just randomly, but some searched it out. I can't imagine what seeing something like that does to a young person.

If a student is removed from a class for explosive and obscene behavior they should not return to that class that day.

Back to school anxiety got me cooking. Birria, pesto, and jerk marinade. Tomorrow is fermented hot sauce.

If you want teachers to get students engaged and taking ownership of their learning, maybe find a way to tell them that other than a 2 hour lecture.

District admin should be required to teach a class to students every year. Mixed ability classes. Gen Ed, special education, EBD, EL. With the highest class size that building has. Teachers should be able to walk in anytime and see the strategies they talk about in our summer PD sessions.

How does one ignore your colleagues that only want to complain? I don’t have the energy to deal with that this year.
