So true. It's a sense of entitlement for simply being. My brother resented anyone who put in any kind of effort. At school he would say, "It's unfair that some people do well only because they study for exams". As an adult, his mantra was, "It's not what you know, it's who you know".

Trump's lies (everything he says) are extreme and either: a) projections accusing someone of doing something bad that he is doing b) the complete opposite of the actual truth. This is the latter.

It's looking increasingly like these guys thought that if they could wreak more death and destruction than the other side then they would be respected as strong powerful men and they would "win" and that would make them big important heroes. Very possibly they had no rationale deeper than that.

I get yelled at for saying this but for many hundreds of years people went to university not to get diplomas or be employable but because immersion in the humanities was considered foundational to a good life, and school must return to its original purpose: the joy of learning.
