Telling that damn near everyone I know who's done actual organizing — across a wide range of perspectives and tactics — went "fuck this guy" about Platner early on. Savvier than thou/4d chess influencer types were the ones head over heels. It helps if nazi shit is always a dealbreaker. A lesson.

This is horrific. It is also an incredibly common dogma of abuse culture, and not just among churches. I've literally seen this rationale used by "transformative justice" types in radical spaces, and seen survivors and those who defend them extensively harassed for refusing it.

Yep. The value of corporations rolling out the rainbow carpet isn't what's in their heart of hearts, it's the society-wide signaling of "acceptance is good, bigotry is bad." Even if entirely insincere, it tells society "we think the majority of our customers expect this," and that's good!

Very bad news. Screwworm appears to have made it to Texas, as was predicted. These parasites eat the living flesh of cattle, cause horrible pain, and can ultimately kill them. Yesterday, USDA Chief Brooke Rollins categorically denied that screwworm was close to the border.

Subsidized subscriptions were a scam - one of many used by the AI industry. LLM users are victims of a con, misled about the actual costs of AI, all while being conditioned to believe that AI was getting cheaper. It's only ever got more expensive.

The Squamish people of what is now Vancouver were illegally dispossessed of their land 100 years ago. They sued, got the land back, and used their sovereignty to ignore local zoning and build 6,000 new homes over the loud objections of nearby wealthy NIMBYs. Now other tribes are getting in the game.
