Who really controls the Williams F1 team? A bitter legal battle has put this question centre stage
Special report: Allegations of sexism, racism and expenses fiddling are flying across US courts, drawing in leading figures in motor racing and some famous names in music. But the precise role of Peter de Putron, a Jersey-based billionaire, is one of the most intriguing issues

I do sometimes worry that all the worried headscratching about youth unemployment might be missing the point. Everyone is always talking about how it relates to the education or welfare systems, no one wants to say "well the economy just produces far fewer entry level jobs than it once did"

No idea why Tuchel is getting all the hate over his squad selection. Toney's experience playing in half-empty stadiums under an authoritarian regime could prove invaluable.

- Subsidising consumption in the face of a supply shock - reducing incentives to drive less/switch to EVs - using up limited fiscal space to help better-off drivers rather than the most vulnerable. Hard to think of a worse policy right now.

The

It should be a much bigger story given the history.

I started this thread on twitter back in 2017. I add to it occasionally whenever the opportunity offers itself, but want to start it again so I can add to it on here. So… Amazing how grater technology has developed. My current grater (left) and an original 80s grater, the size of a brick!

The media has a duty to educate people on this, because I honestly think a lot of people don't actually know what they were voting for on Thursday. I'm fairly politically savvy and even I wasn't sure if I was voting on district or county council until I got in the booth.

I didn't think it was possible for the LibDems to increase their majority in South Cambs for a third election in a row but that looks like happening. They'll end up with a comically large majority at this rate. A decade ago when the district had 1/3 seats up for election, Tories won.

...the political equivalent of a miracle. At last half-a-dozen qualify for a wooden spoon for "Worse than Puffles the Dragon Fairy in Cambridge in 2014" totals! (i.e. fewer than 89 votes, which is miserable for a party in government).

How infuriating to hear the chairman(?) of Asda on the Today programme implying that land use for solar farms might significantly hurt UK food production. It's nonsense. Golf courses use more than solar ever will & beef/lamb production is huge yet provides a tiny fraction of our protein & calories.

It is, today, the 182nd anniversary of the ceremonial opening of Norwich Station, which must mean it’s time to talk about pissing in the street. Railways opened up the country, you see, encouraging tourism, but public toilets only really came in with the Great Exhibition of 1851... 🧵

Captain. Leader. Far-right sympathiser. Terry joins ranks of football’s radicalised | Jonathan Liew
John Terry’s journey into the internet pipeline is by no means an isolated case – what makes footballers so susceptible? And so we ask ourselves: how did it come to this? Did we miss the signs? Were there red flags that went unheeded, cries for help that fell on closed ears, forks in the road not taken? Or ultimately, for all our best efforts, was it always going to end like this? Is it, in fact, possible that John Terry was a far-right sympathiser all along? Yes, it’s been a chastening week for those who have been fighting Terry’s corner for more than a decade. Who steadfastly defended him against the racism charges, who accepted his explanation that he was simply repeating what Anton Ferdinand had been saying to him, who turned up at his trial in full kit, who lamented his failure to land the coaching jobs he so coveted, who right to the end just wanted to believe.
