For every horror that captures the attention of this site, there are dozens of others that fly under the radar, and then there are hundreds, probably thousands more, that we don't yet know about. I'm grateful for the activists, lawyers, and journalists bringing stories like this to light.

One of the things I worry about is that not enough Americans are aware of these atrocities to endorse destroying the lives of those responsible. It is essential that we make them aware.

It's hard to read this memo as anything other than: the law isn't the law. It blatantly ignores SCOTUS precedent (not even bothering to mention it) and simply declares a new rule without any legal support.
