. You're making the site unusable! Why are we blocking ADULT CONTENT from CONSENTING ADULTS? The people that don't want to see it can already filter it. The filters work fine, THIS DOES NOT. Hold that thought- furthermore, why are we blocking SFW content from EVERYONE? TEXT??

And worth noting that the politicians say 'trans' because they can't say f****t, but their supporters hear f****t. Because fundamentally all of this is crippling gender-insecurity from a bunch of oversized manchildren - the worst thing they can imagine, their terror, is being called 'not a man.'

Truly, I would argue there is maybe no single more important figure in 1970s/80s cinema than Marcia Lucas. Yeah George and Martin and Steven directed the movies but she is the one who took what they made and spun it into The Stories that we all love to this day. Her shadow looms LARGE.

A great example of how crucial the editor is to the cinematic process. This scene intercuts three separate sequences with clear stakes and readable action in each one, each building on the others to form a single coherent arc. In the hands of less assured editors this would be a shambles.

After having seen STAR WARS 500 times as a kid, I remember having my mind blown learning that the entire "the death star is about to blow up the rebel base as its being attacked" beat of the ending was invented in the editing room using outtakes and ADR.

Any time a creative turns to this tech, they are saying "I do not respect the people who do this thing. I do not value their creative contribution to my vision. I think they are so worthless, they can be replaced by the machine that ate their work." It's not surprising this is seen as hostile.

Ideas are cheap. Anyone can have ideas. Everyone HAS ideas. There’s no barrier of entry for having an idea. You don’t need genAI. Scribbling your idea onto a piece of paper is infinitely more creative and rewarding than feeding it to the stolen slop machine in return for a soulless render.

The Squamish people of what is now Vancouver were illegally dispossessed of their land 100 years ago. They sued, got the land back, and used their sovereignty to ignore local zoning and build 6,000 new homes over the loud objections of nearby wealthy NIMBYs. Now other tribes are getting in the game.

For people who think that AI is inevitable or worry it is, I made starter packs of game devs refusing to use AI, and in less than 24 hours had more than 200 devs ask to be included. Creatives don't want this and won't use it. You just need to support those who won't use it.

A decade ago, analysts were calling Spain a cautionary tale. Too much solar, too fast! Today, Spain is rapidly on its way to having the cheapest power in Europe. Maybe this time, solar naysayers will learn... haha, jk, they'll just move the goalposts.

Spain just became one of Europe's cheapest power markets. Here is how.
How wind and solar quietly pushed gas off the margin, and the wholesale price followed.
