It's so stupid. Everything about it is stupid. I have to limit my exposure because there is no sense to be found. That is the essence of war. That is why people spent an entire decade dancing and drinking and spending. I can barely study it, they lived it. And they knew it was for nothing

A lot of material acted like WWI was just too opaque and complicated. And, yes, there were a lot of treaties and moving parts but it essentially boiled down to pursuit of empire grasping more than it could reach and fragile manbabies unable to handle a telegraph spat.

So, I think we can all agree that failing to dig into the causes and mistakes of WWI was a major error in American education.
