A reminder that gas-powered leafblowers are nightmare devices that are bad for you, bad for your lawn, and very bad for the environment. They fume and scream and kill the world all so you can messily and ineffectively move leaves around, leaves which are generally supposed to stay where they fell.

It's my favorite day! It's the 38th anniversary of the Max Headroom signal broadcast intrusion! 1st incident lasted 25s during the 9PM news on WGN-TV in Chicago; The 2nd, 2hrs later, lasted ~90s on PBS affiliate WTTW during Dr. Who. You can watch it here:

I’m not going to giggle and eat canapés with these people behind the scenes like this is all some game. I left the event shortly after (though I don’t think that person was reflective of the average person there, and she left — with a Global reporter, apparently lol — before I did)

If you don't like trans people, perhaps you should ask yourself how much you like the person the transphobia will mutate you into. Do it soon, because when it's had time to work on you, you won't remember who you used to be.

Anyway, men are ~230x more likely to *be raped* than be falsely accused of rape but they seem way less worried about the former than the latter. And that’s bc a LOT of men aren’t 100% certain they’ve never done something THEY don’t see as rape but the other person involved might.

I hadn't given it much thoughts until now but I just learned that there is a reason why in most French-speaking countries 'eighty' is 'quatre-vingts' -- literally 'four twenties' -- and that reason is the ghostly presence of the ancient Gauls' base 20 counting system.

There is already a party that is giving bigots everything they want; they've got it all locked up. Anyone so devoted to their bigotries that they hold their votes contingent over it is going to vote for that party. Differentiate to win. Don't differentiate to lose. This is very simple marketing.
