@akeaswaran.me
made this neat graph of a quick strength of schedule model. Really interesting to see how relative difficulty between the front and back parts of the season may drive narratives. Neville might find his seat pretty hot, while Varas is my pick for COTY winner w/ a likely hot start.

Doyle is the most relevant voice talking about MLS. But the league’s short-sighted choice is fans’ gain as I’m sure Matt’s insight will only grow. This is the easiest subscription any MLS fan will make this year.

American soccer wouldn't be the same without Doyle, who works incredibly hard to tell smart stories and build fan culture in a league that's starved for both Blows my mind that MLS didn't beg him to keep doing that, but go subscribe to his work to keep the league fun in spite of itself

A fun thing to do whenever a manager complains about expected goals is to google their name and "better chances." Sometimes you get something especially beautiful like "At the start of the season you can ignore this and hope it levels itself out"

Des Moines is the semi-liberal bastion in Des Moines, and the Des Moines Public Schools are one of the particular bugbears for the Iowa GOP. This is absolutely a specific political attack on the DMPS, on the African community in Des Moines, and on the most diverse city in the state.

If you loved Sarri's Napoli or De Zerbi's Brighton, you should be watching Mikey Varas's San Diego. I wrote for the Guardian about the risky press-baiting style that makes MLS's newest team its most tactically interesting, statistically extreme and just plain fun.

On rewatch of the 🇺🇸-🇹🇷 game: - For once ball progression was not as big of an issue, LdlT actually did really well playing on the turn. He did take more responsibility in buildup after Johnny's howler - A lot of attacks died at Agyemang's feet. Not sure he's that good back-to-goal
