Campbell's head is wrapped up and she walks to the cart under her own power, with some smiles and high fives to teammates, before being driven off the field. VAR steps in and Byars is back on the field, no red card. Accidental contact.

Back in #NWSL action, Houston has equalized vs Wave and Jane Campbell has significant blood coming out of her head after taking a knee to the face from Trinity Byars. Campbell is completely surrounded by stadium workers as medics tend to her. Byars has been sent off. Looked accidental.

NEWS: Spokane Zephyr FC is folding after two seasons in the USL Super League. Ownership informed players on Monday, per multiple sources. Zephyr was the league's only team in the Pacific Time Zone. A statement from a USL spokesperson:

Nothing new here, but Kansas City is a completely different team with and without Chawinga. Five goals (and counting) in the past two games. This is finally shades of the recent dangerous, decisive counterattacking KC team. (One asterisk is CHI/HOU defenses invite this pressure.) #NWSL

BREAKING: U.S. Soccer has engaged with stakeholders including #NWSL, USL Super League, WPSL Pro about the creation of an interleague competition to begin as early as 2028, sources tell @espn.com. Details are still TBD but plans are in motion. It likely wouldn't exactly mirror the men's US Open Cup.

Third-place San Diego Wave FC hosts second-place Washington Spirit tonight (10 pm ET) in the showcase game of the #NWSL weekend. Wildly, there are only a couple weeks of games left until the five-week break for the Men's World Cup.

NEWS: Manchester City has announced that #USWNT midfielder Sam Coffey "underwent minor knee surgery earlier this week" and she will begin rehab soon. No further details were provided about the injury. She will miss the USWNT's games against Brazil in June.
